MSHS Proud to present

WIN Time “What I Need”

MSHS Staff led Focus Group is thrilled to be exploring a schedule for students that provides a mini class period for academic support on Tuesdays and Thursdays. WIN Time (What I Need) period is designed to help students balance high school academic life while preparing for post secondary goals. During WIN time teachers will be assigned to students from each grade level and will remain with those students throughout their HS career building relationships. During this time students will review their HS academic progress and have the opportunity to be scheduled with other teachers for enrichment and academic support.

Schedule:

  • Tuesday’s and Thursdays for 40 minutes following the 1st hour in a meeting period schedule.

  • Pilot Begins Tuesday, February 7th

  • Students can find their WIN time teacher and room number in their email.

Why WIN Time?

  • MSHS cares deeply about the success of all students. Students and teachers are in need of additional time during the day to maximize the learning experiences for all students. MSHS understands that students are very involved in multiple activities after school such as fine arts, athletics, and work making it challenging to manage time to complete all tasks. MSHS understands that rest and sleep is essential for students to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Counseling Department: College, Career and Life Ready!

It's Scheduling Season for 2023-2024

During the scheduling season each of our students meets individually with their counselor to discuss course selections and careers. In addition they complete the EDP process using the XELLO platform. It is here where students take the matchmaker, personality style, learning styles, and skills lab assessments. Upon completion students are given 10 matching career possibilities based on their responses. Students are also provided time to explore the career options.

Scheduling Reminder for Juniors:

Make sure you are working on your course requests for the 23-24 school year.  By the Monday of your class course selection return dates (February 6-10 for current Juniors), please complete the following:

  • Make your course selections for next year.

  • If you have questions, spend time reviewing the video, course sequence charts, and other materials found in your student’s Class of 2024 - Counseling Office and Scheduling Google Classroom.

  • Sign Up for Lockers - links on HS LMC page and in their Google Classroom.  Seniors get their own locker!  Sign-up closes February 10.

  • Completed CTC application (link in Google Classroom) if planning to attend

  • Blue course request forms completed and signed by parent and appropriate teacher(s)

  • Online Course requests entered through the Student Portal.

  • Return signed forms to your Counselor when you meet during your scheduling week.

  • Juniors will meet with Counselors during your Social Studies class (World History). Students not in a World History class in Tri 2 will receive a pass from their Counselor.

It is important to have course requests submitted so that your student and their counselor can make the most of their time discussing their future plans and making sure their selections are appropriate. Counselors can assist with making any necessary changes.
