With winter weather expected on Monday, we want to remind everyone to please make sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the changing temperatures. Students should have a warm coat, hat, gloves, snow pants, boots, and any other cold-weather gear needed to stay comfortable outside.
To help avoid lost items, please label all clothing with your child’s first and last name. A silver Sharpie works great for labeling darker items like black coats, gloves, hats or snow pants.
As a reminder of our winter weather policy:
If the temperature or wind chill is 5°F or below, students will have indoor recess and, at morning drop-off, will enter the building right away and go directly to their classroom as indicated by the red flag hanging outside on the building.
If the temperature or wind chill is above 5°F, students will go outside for recess and will line up outside in the morning.
Students are outside for 20 minutes at lunch recess and 30 minutes during afternoon recess, so being dressed for the weather is very important.
Please keep in mind that temperatures can fluctuate throughout the day, and conditions may change unexpectedly. Even if it seems like students may stay indoors, there is always a chance the temperature will rise enough for outdoor recess — so sending your child prepared every day is very important.
Thank you for helping us keep all students safe, warm, and ready to learn!
