Friday, August 28th was a start unlike any other at Mona Shores High School. Though the building was on a half-day schedule, students packed a wide variety of engaging activities into the day.
9th & 10th Grade Students:
Viewed the Screenagers documentary to help them understand the impact of screen time on the brain and as a consequence, their learning and well being.
Visited a student expo that highlighted clubs and co-curricular activities offered at MSHS, including representatives from Be Nice, Muskegon Career Tech Center, and the Muskegon College & Career Readiness team.
Listened to student senators present on the many ways students can be involved in campus life at Mona Shores High School.
11th & 12th Grade Students:
Viewed the Screenagers documentary to help them understand the impact of screen time on the brain and as a consequence, their learning and well being.
Visited the college, career & apprenticeship fair with roughly 40 organizations from colleges, military branches, trade schools, businesses, and other employers. Students got a jump on discovering the postgraduate pathway that was right for them.
The day ended with our annual start of school assembly that introduced this year's theme of "Power of Belief." Senior Nick Kreps gave a thoughtful and inspirational speech and members of the choir delivered a rendition of You Will be Found to reinforce the annual theme. As always, the mighty Sailor marching band provided musical accompaniment throughout the assembly.
