The portal will be open on Monday, March 16th at 10:00 am for students to review their 3rd trimester schedule. Counselors are working up to that point to re-loop students and balance seat counts, please be aware that there may be changes to schedules.
The grade uploading process will be completed by Friday, March 20th and the portal will be open to view 2nd trimester final grades.

Attendance procedures:
Excused Absences
A parent/guardian must call (231) 780-4711 (ext. 1) within 48 hours to excuse a student’s absence.
Students are responsible for contacting their teachers to obtain assignments for any missed days.
All absences must be excused by a parent/guardian within 48 hours of the day of absence.
Partial-Day Absences
A parent/guardian must call (231) 780-4711 (ext. 2) to request a pass. Students must check out in the front office before leaving the building with the attendance secretary. Students arriving during instructional time must check in at the front office and obtain a pass before going to class. Students arriving more than 20 minutes late to their first scheduled period will be marked absent for that hour.

Student Drop Off and Pick Up: When dropping off your student in the morning please first use the front circle drive and the east parking lot. When using the front circle drive, please do not use the bus lane for drop off. Parent drop off is the lane closest to Seminole. In planning for after school pick up, please know that students will be directed to use the crosswalk at Seminole and Padelt. The West lot is for student drivers and can be used for parent drop off. Please be sure to pull forward to the Sailor Center Entrance to allow for multiple cars to drop off.

Spring testing is right around the corner. The week we come back from spring break (April 13th - 15th) will be mandatory state testing for our 9th - 11th grade students. Look for detailed information on Friday, March 27th; Monday, March 30th; and Sunday, April 12th. All tests are digital this year, so students will need a fully-charged chromebook each day. Take a look at the link below for the testing calendar, including the schedule for test day.

Trades Spotlight- Drywalling
SENIORS- Preparing to enter the trades after graduation takes just as much preparation as heading off to college. You should be applying NOW for apprenticeships or entrance into training programs. Some programs have long waitlists. One profession that is often overlooked is drywalling, a hands-on job with competitive entry level pay. It’s a skill that can eventually be turned into a career that approaches a six-figure income. Check out the link below for information from the West Michigan Construction Institute in Grand Rapids.

FAFSA
It’s not too late to complete the FAFSA! College-bound seniors should complete the 26-27 FAFSA to determine your eligibility for college grants, scholarships, and loans. MI Student Aid has a lot of information available for students and families as well!
Muskegon Community College Senior Visit Days
Muskegon Community College is hosting Senior Visit Days for our students to complete the following:
Student Orientation
Meet with a Counselor
Schedule Placement Testing (if applicable)
Review Financial Aid
Register for Classes (After April 24)
Set up Photo ID
Explore Campus
Senior Visit Days for Mona Shores High School Students are April 20 and April 27. Capacity for each day is 40 students. Preference is to sign up for the April 27 date so that you can complete your class registration the same day. Once the April 27 date fills up or if you have a conflict that day, sign up for the April 20 visit. Arrangements will be made to register for classes after April 24, if you attend the April 20 visit.
You must complete the following prior to your Senior Visit Day:
Complete your application and be ACCEPTED into MCC for the Fall 2026 semester.
Place an order in Parchment to send your transcript to MCC.
Sign up for the Senior Visit Day at least one week prior to the event.
College and Military Visits
College admission and military recruiters visit Mona Shores. Most college admission recruiters have already visited our school and met with students who signed up. All visits are published on our College and Military Visit Calendar so keep checking back.
If you are taking your student out of school for a college campus visit, students should pick up a pink form from the attendance office at least 2 days prior to the visit so that they can get the signatures they need from parents and school personnel prior to going on the visit. Seniors are allowed 2 College Visits during their senior year that will be exempt from attendance. See the student handbook for more information.
Transcripts
Seniors, request your transcript through Parchment AFTER your college application is submitted. There is a link at the bottom of the Mona Shores High School Counseling webpage. Account setup instructions can also be found there. Transcript orders are free for graduating seniors through July 31.
SAT Test Preparation:
