On Tuesday, December 20th, the girls basketball team celebrated their 50th year of competition with a 35-29 win over visiting Montague. Prior to the game, over 50 former players and coaches were treated to a reception with food and drinks and an opportunity to catch up with old friends. The group was also honored on the court during a pre-game ceremony that featured the video linked below.
One of the most accomplished programs in our school's history, the girls basketball program has amassed almost 600 wins with 14 conference championships, 13 district championships, and back-to-back regional titles in 1993 and 1994. Special mention was made of Mike Mack, the program's winningest coach with 181 wins, and Jordan Walker, the winner of the 2017 Miss Basketball award. Coach Mack is currently our event manager at Mona Shores High School and Ms. Walker is finishing her collegiate career at the University of Tennessee, where she helped them to a "Sweet Sixteen" appearance in the 2022 NCAA tournament.
