Our school is embarking on a district initiative that encompasses a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), also known as Response to Intervention (RtI).  It is a framework to provide all students with the best opportunities to succeed academically and behaviorally in school.  The focus is on providing high quality instruction and interventions matched to student need, monitoring progress frequently to make decisions about changes to instruction or goals.  Data are used to allocate resources to improve student learning and to support staff implementation of effective practices.

 

Within this framework is what is called our positive behavioral support interventions and supports (PBIS).  The emphasis is on a school-wide system of support that includes proactive strategies for defining, teaching and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments.   Our staff has worked hard to create a behavior expectations matrix, our Sailor P.R.I.D.E., which supports PBIS.   You may view this matrix below as well as an informational brochure outlining the specifics of PBIS.
