Driver's Education

 

2010/2011 Registration


Segment I


Segment I classes will be offered in April/May and June/July.  Driving schedules will be distributed on the first day of class.  Behind-the-wheel instruction continues up to 3 weeks after classroom instruction has been completed.

Students interested in taking Driver's Education should pick up an application (available in January ) at the Community Services Office located at 3374 McCracken Street (Room 8) or in the High School Media Center.  Applications will be accepted until classes are full.  Limited openings are available.  School reserves the right to cancel a class with insufficient enrollment.

To register please provide the following:

  • Completed Application, Emergency Card and signed Contract
  • Copy of Birth Certificate (certified copy)
  • $65.00 Deposit ($30.00 is non-refundable)
    Remaining balance of $300.00 is due 30 days before the first class (Price subject to change)
    Remaining deposit is refundable if cancellation is received at least 5 days prior to start of class. 
  • Proof of a Vision Exam (You may use your own eyecare professional.  Vision Screenings are available at the Muskegon County Health Department at 724-1394.)

Segment I consists of 24 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving instruction. Students must be minimum of 14 years, 8 months by first class to be eligible to take Segment I. The price for Segment 1 is currently $365.00.


Segment II 


Classes will be offered in November (2010) and  February/March (2011).

November 1, 2, 3 (3:10-5:10 pm)

February 28, March 1 and 2 (3:10-5:10 pm)

Students may pick up an application (available in the fall) in the office of Community Services located at 3374 McCracken Street (Room 8) or in the High School Media Center.

To register, please provide the following:

  • Completed Application
  • Copy of Level 1 License
  • Signed Parent Contract
  • Fee of $45.00 

Segment II consists of 6 hours of classroom instruction. Students must possess their Level I License for a minimum of 90 days and complete 30 hours of driving (2 hours at night) to be eligible to take Segment II.

Students must be present in all three 2-hour class sessions to receive their certificate (no make-ups, no refunds). The cost for Segment II is currently $45.00 (price subject to change).  A $10 processing fee will be applied to any cancellations received prior to the first class.  Applications will be accepted until classes are full.
